What’d it ever do to me?
Last post, I poked fun at my brain. But even though there is a lot to dislike about its critical thinking deficiencies, the fact of the matter is that it’s a very complex organ. The stuff our brains are doing right now is very hard, and nature didn’t evolve us with modernity in mind.
Technology has helped that quite a lot. Now we can store knowledge outside our brains. Plus, we use complex tools to build the world around us. Sure, the sponge isn’t perfect, but it’s still pretty amazing.
Better than that, though, is the Symphony of Science approach toward appreciating this.
In the long term, our minds will continue to evolve, both with and without our help. It helps when I think of the present now as a transitional period. Under those circumstances, maybe I should cut my brain some slack. It may be deceiving me, but it’s a work in process.
